Tanglewood’s skilled craftsmen are equally at home working with copper, glass or wood. All of our creations are
fabricated here at our Denton, Maryland facility. You can have us create an outstanding design ourselves or we
can manufacture to your specification. Our glass and copper domes, roof lanterns and skylights can be constructed
in virtually any size, shape and design.
A curved glass dome with
ventilating cupola sits atop
a mahogany conservatory.
Its lead coated copper
cladding will soon weather
to a rich patina. At almost
ten feet tall, the dome was
still able ship cross country
completely assembled.
Here, diamond shaped
copper “shingles” are
applied to a dome designed
for an ornate Moorish-
styled conservatory. Each
piece is carefully bent and
fit in place by hand.
Maple and mahogany were used
to fabricate this ornamental roof
lantern with custom designed
stained glass windows. Operation
of these upper vents is usually
automated.
A brilliant sky is framed by the
curved structural ribs of this
mahogany and glass dome. It
sits atop the conservatory shown
in Our Portfolio, page 12.
This copper clad, bell
shaped dome will sit atop a
new home in Virginia, its
shape echoing the turrets
of the house.
This trio of copper-clad
skylights will light a home
with both quality and style.
Hand-crafted, one at a time,
they’ll add dramatic effect
both inside and out.
A custom double-pitch
skylight is fabricated using
copper shapes bent to fit
over a mahogany structure.
A small gable skylight that
will illuminate a newly built
orangerie, awaits shipment.
These skylights can usually
be delivered completely
assembled and set into place
with a light duty crane.
The roof of this classic glass
cupola is constructed using a
century-old technique of
overlapping small panes. Its
elegant accomplishment
could not have been otherwise
effected.
While this ornate roof
lantern sits atop a custom
designed conservatory, it
might easily perch on any
roofline in need of an
interesting highlight.
