Tanglewood Appoints 'Sustainability Czar'
Green Initiatives 2010 by Paul Rogers
April 2010 - Alan Stein, founder and president of Tanglewood
Conservatories has recently appointed Paul Rogers as 'Sustainability
Czar' in order to spearhead Tanglewood's Green and Sustainability
efforts. Rogers will focus on process and improvements that
strive to make Tanglewood much more Green and efficient. Changes
including upgrades to product lines and focus on building a
successful and productive infrastructure.
A Structural Engineer and Draftsman by trade,
Rogers will track progress of Tanglewood initiatives and promote
education and participation throughout the company. Programs
and incentives such as computer workstations on shop floors
allowing for quick viewing and markups of digital shop- drawings,
documents and photos. Car pooling, office paper recycling, breakroom
recycling, literature/return recycling, product sample returns
and scrap copper and aluminum recycling are only some of the
many initiatives that Tanglewood has started to implement amongst
team members.
Rogers and the entire team of craftsmen and designers at the Tanglewood
atelier are focused on coming up with new and inovative ways
to dissect and organize processes to reduce time, labor, cost
and material adding value to the company and to the enviornment.
In addition the company will continue to work on developing
a standardized "Sustainability Package" upgrade using new technology
and product testing based on new green efficient technologies
and resources including use of wood from well managed, FSC certified
forests.
